The early series " One-Hour Portrait" (2001-02) by Kyungwoo Chun operates with the titular exposure times of one hour each. Sitting for a portrait for a whole hour is a special performative act that we are not used to nowadays and that creates areas of blur through the smallest movements. This creates a special relationship of closeness and simultaneous distance between the portrayed and the photographer, the image and the portrayed person, as well as the photograph and the recipient.
