Kyungwoo Chun's series "reMEMBERed" (2002) consists of group portraits of 30 teenagers in Delmenhorst. The group of adolescents could choose the duration of their performance in front of the camera, which is the exposure time. For this, the young people chose the number 18, which symbolised freedom for them, since in Germany it marks the longed-for adulthood with the age of majority.
To create the photographic work, groups of six young people sat in front of the camera. Although they posed silently and as motionless as possible, the young people influenced each other during the shooting time. For that, the photography also make direct and indirect group processes visible. The conscious perception of time is just as much in the foreground here as the invisible bonds of relationships and influences between different people - and especially adolescents.
