For the "Interpreters" series of works, Kyungwoo Chun uses historical photographs as a starting point, which were taken in Korea during the Joseon Dynasty around 1900. He gave this to 10 painters who live in Bremen, with the request to paint the photos realistically.
The different cultural codes of historical photographers and painters resulted in reinterpretations of the original photographs, which Kyungwoo Chun returned to the photographic medium in long exposures.
