The exhibition shows the series "Nine Editors", 2014, a series of 9 photographs based on a performance. For this work, the artist Kyungwoo Chun worked with 9 fashion journalists from Seoul, who are always on the lookout for the latest fashionable style to present to the public on their blogs. The artist asked them all to send him their favorite piece of clothing and then invited them one by one to visit him in the studio. During the visit, the journalists were asked to put on the 8 items of clothing of the other journalists and improvise individually so that they were fully clothed. Then they were photographed by Kyungwoo Chun for an exposure time of 9 minutes.
In the second series of works on display, "Interpreters", Kyungwoo Chun uses historical photographs as a starting point, which were taken in Korea during the Joseon Dynasty around 1900. These he gave to 10 painters who live in Bremen, with the request that the photos be realistic to paint. The different cultural codes of the historical photographers and painters resulted in reinterpretations of the original photographs, which were photographically implemented by Kyungwoo Chun.
