The predominant theme of the artist, who lives in the USA, is the implementation of light in painting. His picture objects shimmer in polychrome shades of white and appear to be illuminated from within. They defy precise categorization: they are both an image and a three-dimensional object. Oval shapes, circles, densities and openings create a strong three-dimensionality that is associated with a high degree of translucency.
Udo Nöger's works have been shown in numerous exhibitions in Germany, Europe and the USA and are in private and public collections, e.g. Haus der Kunst, Munich; Metropolitan Museum, New York, Art Institute Chicago.
