In the group of works "Portraits von Portraits” (Portraits of Portraits, 2001), Ralf Peters traces the border between the private and the public sphere. Intruding into the intimate situations of tourists, the artist photographs them in the process of taking snapshots of themselves in rural settings.
At a time when nearly every private moment is shared on social media, Peters questions the fragile balance between documentary narrative and voyeurism with a humorous investigation into the connection between the photographer and the photographed.
