Visibility of binary gender constructions is the central theme of the series "Männer/Frauen” (Men/Women, 1998/99), in which Peters photographed pedestrians in New York City from near and far distances. Mounted on a computer in a diptych separated by gender, he questions whether we are dealing with two separate urban spaces in which women (Broadway) and men (9th Avenue) move separately from each other.
