Art has no expiration date.
As a rule, works of art are newly produced for exhibitions in galleries. Once created, they exist for eternity, for example in the cabinets of museum depots or in the living rooms of private collectors. The artworks change, they carry the traces of their stories within them. Likewise, they also change their environment and leave traces themselves. The constant production of new artistic works for exhibitions opening daily around the globe, using enormous resources, is anything but sustainable and cannot possibly continue indefinitely.

Artistic work is transformation.
Every form of artistic work means the (re)use of things and all work inevitably consumes materials as well as other resources. Work and human life are not possible without consumption. But it is possible to reduce this consumption. To do this, the new must be brought into a closer relationship with the old.

Building bridges between the old and the new.
The topic of sustainability is preoccupying the art world, but in practice little is changing. For the group exhibition POOL, artworks from the gallery depot of Bernhard Knaus Fine Art are brought together with young, international positions. Four artists show their works in the context of selected works by five established positions from the gallery program. This show is about the space between presence and absence, old and new, between yesterday and tomorrow, about a deep dive into topics that have occupied us all for a long time and in this very moment.
