Permanent artistic installation in the staircase and foyer of the Goethe-Institut Kolkata, since November 2022
Katja Davar, a German-British artist, was invited by the Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan Kolkata to create a site-specific artwork in the staircase and entrance area. Davar is interested in new and old technologies and their consequences on nature and society. In her work for Kolkata, she explores the theme of technological acceleration and its impact on our planet, societies and individual selves. "On Cables and Cumulus", consisting of a large-scale drawing and a textile work, spans three floors and visualises aspects of technologies that are interwoven.
