We are pleased to announce the first solo exhibition of German - American painter Jerry Zeniuk at Bernhard Knaus Fine Art, Frankfurt.
Jerry Zeniuk was born in 1945 in Bardowick (Poland), as son of Ukrainian refugees. 1950 the family moved to Loveland, Colorado, USA. After studying at the University of Colorado, Zeniuk moved to New York in 1969. From 1970-92 he received a DAAD scholarship that enabled an extended stay in Hamburg and Berlin. From 1992 - 2011 he was professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. Jerry Zeniuk lives in Munich.
Jerry Zeniuk is one of the most important representatives of basic or essential painting. His goal is to avoid any appeal that goes beyond the self- referentiality of painting. He focuses solely on the properties of paints and their purely visual sensation. In his painting, therefore can´t be found any illustrative, narrative or psychologizing moments. He transfers colors and shapes to exciting, balanced image structure. The mostly round patches of color and in-between areas form a relationship, that opens up to the viewer a sensitive, surprising and reflective space of perception like a symphony.
In parallel with the gallery exhibition, the Museum Wiesbaden presents a solo exhibition by Jerry Zeniuk: Paintings : Not for your living room , January 31 - April 27, 2014.
