Strained Terrain
05.03.2025 - 29.03.2025
loop – raum für aktuelle kunst, Luckenwalder Str. 6b, 10963 Berlin
The exhibition Strained Terrain explores the artistic engagement with nature and its profound transformation by human activity. The works of artists are presented, each reflecting on and depicting, in various ways, the impact of the Anthropocene on landscapes and climate. Since 2018, Thomas Wrede has been photographing melting glaciers. The fleece coverings, intended to halt the melting process, symbolise the superficial and futile interventions of humanity. Land art artist Rosalind Lowry responds to a specific location and time with her interventions. Edward Burtynsky captures the dramatic marks left by industry on the earth in his captivating images. Through a transdisciplinary approach combining photography, film/video, and installation, Betty Böhms’ work intertwines documentary and research-based elements with subjective, poetic, and associative layers. Charlotte Bastian creates new landscapes by assembling photographs from different places and times, forming them into collages and three-dimensional spatial images.
