Reading Show: Jakob Schwerdtfeger
18.01.2024
Bernhard Knaus Fine Art, Frankfurt, GER
How can a black square be art? Why is artist's shit sold at the price of gold? And the big question: Can't I do the same?
On 18 January 2024, Jakob Schwerdtfeger will be answering the really important questions about art in our gallery when he gives us an insight into his book "Ich sehe was, was du nicht siehst, und das ist Kunst", which has just been published by dtv.
Jakob Schwerdtfeger is an art historian and stand-up comedian. Full of passion, he wanders through the history of art, discusses the highlights and puts together his own favourite exhibition. He knows the most exciting stories behind the works, tells incredible anecdotes from the museum and offers endless fun facts and party knowledge. Dalí took an anteater for a walk. Da Vinci's greatest work became a target for archers. And Frida Kahlo's art gets its own seat on an aeroplane.
Schwerdtfeger is an art junkie and spends every spare minute in museums. He tells of the most daring art thefts, the craziest forgeries and the most absurd record prices. In the end, there are more than ten reasons why art makes life better and why we should go to museums more often.
Please note that the show will be in German.
