We are very much looking forward to a special concert in our gallery:
On 16 December 2025 at 7 pm, the Malion Quartet and Karsten Schmidt-Hern will perform The Juliet Letters by Elvis Costello and the Brodsky Quartet. Elvis Costello described the work as follows:
“It is a song sequence for string quartet and voice and it has a title. It’s a little bit different. It’s not a rock opera. It’s a new thing.” Inspired by the idea of people writing letters to Shakespeare’s Juliet, the twenty pieces — conceived as letters — explore love, including its more awkward and darker sides. The music defies stylistic classification. You can detect all sorts of influences — classical, pop, jazz, or folk — yet rather than blending genres, the piece dissolves boundaries and creates something new.
Admission is free; donations for the artists are warmly welcomed.
