In this Arte feature, five artists are presented whose practices engage with the theme of “mountains.” Among them is Thomas Wrede, whose segment appears third in the program and begins at 11:54.
The six-minute contribution by Katja Lüber introduces Wrede’s photographic project on glaciers, with a particular focus on their coverings and chromatic transformations. Initiated in 2018 at the Swiss Rhône Glacier, the project has since expanded to include numerous wrapped snow and ice landscapes. Most recently, Wrede has worked at the Northern Schneeferner on the Zugspitze. The film follows the artist at the Rhône Glacier, where he realized a series of compelling interior and exterior images.
