26.03.2025
Bernhard Knaus Fine Art, Niddastrasse 84, 60329 Frankfurt am Main
On the occasion of our current exhibition "WEISS WAR DER SCHNEE", we warmly invite you to an Artist Talk between the artist Thomas Wrede and photography expert Simone Klein, taking place on 26th March at 7 pm.
Simone Klein has 20 years of experience in the auction and gallery sector and possesses in-depth knowledge of 19th-century European photography, classical 20th-century photography, as well as contemporary photography. She has worked for the Rudolf Kicken Gallery, Lempertz Auctioneers, Sotheby’s in London and Paris (where she headed the European Photography department for almost 10 years), as well as Magnum Photos in Paris, where she served as Global Sales Director. Since 2018, Simone Klein has been working as an independent appraiser for photography and as an art advisor.
In his breathtaking glacier photographs, where natural landscapes merge with human interventions, Thomas Wrede artistically engages with the effects of climate change. The result is a series of images that visually represent a fragile beauty, forming the basis of the artist talk between Simone Klein and Thomas Wrede. In earlier bodies of work, Wrede has already addressed themes of the environment, natural disasters, and human traces in the landscape. These aspects are depicted in a unique visual language that oscillates between surreal distortion, critical documentation, and apocalyptic fiction. His spectacular landscape photographs of alpine glaciers reflect, in a strikingly vivid manner, the advancing climate change and its consequences, making them more relevant than ever.
