Rhineland-Palatinate Triennale 2026
24.04.2026 - 31.05.2026
Trier
Opening:
24 April 2026, 2 p.m., Kunsthalle Trier, Aachener Straße 63, 54294 Trier
The Rhineland-Palatinate Triennale is a new format for a curated state art exhibition, which from 2026 onwards will present contemporary art every three years. From 24 April to 31 May 2026, the Triennale will showcase artistic positions from across Rhineland-Palatinate. It sees itself as an open and vibrant forum – a space of resonance for artistic diversity, new ideas, and dialogue between art, society, and history.
The first edition in 2026 presents 53 artistic positions selected by a panel of experts, including Katja Davar, offering a high-quality overview of the current art scene in the state – innovative and multifaceted. Accompanying programmes such as workshops, guided tours, and participatory formats provide visitors with additional points of access, making the Triennale an immersive art experience for everyone.
Under its umbrella, the Triennale also brings together the “Local Chapters”: in this framework, cultural initiatives, artists, and institutions of the host city have the opportunity to contribute their own events and projects. In this way, a multilayered cultural cartography emerges over six weeks – one that extends far beyond the Triennale itself, interweaving art, programming, and exchange.
Venues: TUFA, Kunsthalle Trier, Pauluskirche, Landesmuseum, Dom, Museum am Dom, Amphitheater, Kaiserthermen, EGP Bühne, and Stadtmuseum Simeonstift
