Making a Splash. Water Aesthetics in the Visual Arts and in Film
Starts at 7 PM
Please note that the Panel will be held in German.
The topic of water is currently on everyone's lips. No other element is as closely linked to all life. Everything has always revolved around water, since it is on the one hand the basis of life for all of us and at the same time a habitat in its own right. Basically, everything in and around us is constantly in flow. And yet there are moments when water seems strange, even frightening. This summer, the three exhibitions "Im Tiefenrausch" at Deutsches Filmmuseum, "Wasser im Jugendstil" at Museum Wiesbaden and "Reality Blue" at Bernhard Knaus Fine Art deal with water in different ways. In them, the theme is illuminated through painting, film, or even historical everyday objects.
For the panel "Making a Splash" Michael Kinzer (DFF), Dr. Peter Forster and Jana Dennhard (Museum Wiesbaden) as well as the artist Giacomo Santiago Rogado will come together at our gallery to talk about the importance of water for artistic processes, its aesthetic qualities and impact.
